Despite being nearly double the price of Nandos, an obvious target for comparison, that’s not actually as much as it sounds, and it’s a good sized beast that feeds two easily with a couple of plates of additional sides. Sadly none that we had were that memorable, but I wasn’t complaining…

I can barely remember a better roast chicken cooked by anyone anywhere – every inch of it beautifully moist, with a golden crispy skin and aggressively (though by no means unpleasantly) seasoned. (…) there was nothing fancy going on in terms of herbs or marinades, but you really didn’t miss it…

Clockjack Oven have revived an oldie, but a goodie. The clock jack spit roasting method, sees plump chickens (here free-range and sourced from Brittany) revolving around an open flame, visible behind the blond wood counter…
