The unusual sea bass [taco] sees some slightly smoky, tangy fish topped by a surprisingly sauerkraut-esque coleslaw that’s citrusy and sharp and not too heavy so it doesn’t overpower the taste of the sea bass…

The menu makes for an interesting read; the chef is clearly keen to encourage diners away from the ubiquitous folded wraps and towards the varied cuisine of Mexico. So dishes such as caldo tlapeño (a smoky chicken broth with avocado and chipotle) appear, as does sautéed prawns in ancho chilli sauce…

If you loathe Tex-Mex eating, try the more subtle tostadas de ceviche (sea bass marinated in lime and herbs). (…) But the triumph is pan de elote (cornbread with onions and salsa), which has the lovely, gloopy texture of bread and butter pudding. “I’ve not tasted cornbread like it, even in Mexico City!” my companion enthused.
