It’s taken years for us all to accept the sausage as a food   you’d eat while both out of the house and not on the street. I don’t know if   I’m ready to throw open the gates to mince. But forget that: this was great    – much more moist than something classier like a chop, herbier, too. Their   meat supplier is as good as their fishmonger…

If there’s a better-value pub lunch in London, I’d like to know about it. Three courses of beautifully cooked, hearty food cost just £18. Evening à la carte prices won’t break the bank and you can get half a bottle of wine for £8…
