Bloomberg’s Tejal Rao compiled a list of noteworthy recent and upcoming restaurant opening around the world. The first entry may not be promising (Shake Shack LA), but it gets better. A handy list, whether you find yourself in Chicago (Smyth) or Hong Kong (Belon).

After a six month closure for renovation (and a stint in Melbourne), The Fat Duck in Bray is open again, and  Heston Blumenthal has a story to tell.

“The move to Australia was a great opportunity to question what the Fat Duck is. In the sense that we cook food and it’s served to people, we’re a restaurant. But that’s not much, is it? The fact is the Fat Duck is about storytelling. I wanted to think about the whole approach of what we do in those terms”, he told The Observer in August.

Simon Rogan’s Fera at Claridge’s

Simon Rogan’s hotly anticipated new restaurant at the Claridge’s is now open and taking reservations. Fera at Claridge’s will serve all-British produce from Rogan’s farm in Cumbria.

Fera comes from Latin for ‘wild’ and to complement the fresh and natural food, the glamorous dining room is designed by Guy Oliver in muted earthy colours.

Since 12 September, Jason Atherton’s much anticipated fourth London restaurant (after the three ‘Socials’ – Pollen Street, Little and Eating House) has opened its doors. It’s located in Ian Schrager’s equally new Edition Hotel in Fitzrovia. And as you’d expect the dining room is quite a stunner.

The arrival of Ace Hotel in London, was highly anticipated by fans of the hip Ace Hotel in New York (which is also the venue of April Bloomfield’s Breslin restaurant). Ace London is located on Shoreditch High Street – check out hotelchatter for pics and an opening night review.

To come up with a new restaurant concept, Ace turned to Pablo Flack and David Waddington, the people behind Shrimpy’s and Bistrotheque. Their restaurant will be called Hoi Polloi and is expected to open on 3 October. It will be a modern all-day brasserie (open from breakfast to nightcaps) with 100 covers
