Michelin’s 2015 Bib Gourmand list for New York is out. Every restaurant on the list offers two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less.
For many observers the most intriguing of the Michelin lists, the “Bib” often includes up and coming restaurants to complement the more established ‘starry’ establishments. This year, newcomers include Laotian-inspired Khe-Yo, East Village Italian Bar Primi and many more.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants academy (whose view on London restaurants our Verdict takes into account) has published the 2014 list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.
Nahm in Bangkok takes the crown this year – and quite a few Londoners may have sampled chef David Thompson’s food when he ran a now-closed outpost of Nahm at the Halkin Hotel in Belgravia.

It was never easy to get a table at El Celler de Can Roca in Girona. But since the restaurant won the title of ‘World’s Best Restaurant’ at the World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards 2013, it requires proper long term planning.
As Eater reports, the restaurant only accepts reservations 11 months in advance. The next 11 months are fully booked, but bookings for May 2014 are taken from today on +34 972 222 157.

To celebrate their 10 year anniversary, the Observer Food Monthly Awards (with Jay Rayner at the helm) have selected their “20 best restaurants of the decade” – half of them in London.
How were they selected?
“No big names make it in just for being so. They still have to be serving up great, interesting food. In the end, I came up with a simple test: did writing about the restaurant make me hungry? In each case, yes.”
Along with about 200 other awards and expert reviewers, this selection is picked up by the FoodVerdicts algorithm and has lifted the Verdicts of London

Just a day after the World’s 50 Best Restaurants were crowned, the UK restaurant scene congregated at The Langham to hear the Tatler Restaurant Awards 2013 announced.
We always have an eye on the Newcomer category where an interesting group of restaurant was honoured this year. The award went to Naamyaa Cafe with Bonnie Gull, Burger & Lobster, HKK and New Street Grill as runners up.

The annual gala for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants just ended and the new list is out with a new number one and a certain bald Brit in the top 10 again.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants jury (whose annual restaurant list informs our Verdict) has crowned Nadia Santini as the 2013 World’s Best Female Chef. She succeeds the 2012 winner Elena Arzak, who currently spends a lot of time in London instructing the recently opened Ametsa restaurant at the Halkin hotel.
Nadia Santini heads up the kitchen at three-Michelin-starred Dal Pescatore in Mantova, Italy. Together with her husband Antonio she started working in his parent’s simple osteria in 1974 and the couple transformed it into the destination restaurant it is today. The jury
