After a six month closure for renovation (and a stint in Melbourne), The Fat Duck in Bray is open again, and Heston Blumenthal has a story to tell.
“The move to Australia was a great opportunity to question what the Fat Duck is. In the sense that we cook food and it’s served to people, we’re a restaurant. But that’s not much, is it? The fact is the Fat Duck is about storytelling. I wanted to think about the whole approach of what we do in those terms”, he told The Observer in August.

Would you buy a ticket for a meal at a restaurant the way you do for a play or football match? Michelin-starred restaurant The Clove Club in Shoreditch thinks you would. The restaurant has partnered with restaurant reservation system Tock and will require diners to pre-pay for dinner. Tickets can’t be cancelled (just like at the theatre) but they can be re-sold.
Clove Club chef Isaac McHale is aware that ”It’s going to ruffle a few feathers. But everyone has a problem with no shows and short-seated tables”.

Bloomberg’s chief food critic Richard Vines recently updated his survey to find out where leading UK chefs eat on a night out in London. Japanese noodle specialist Koya, Shoreditch destination Clove Club, Indian newcomer Gymkhana and newly Michelin starred Barrafina all got multiple votes, along with Notting Hill’s The Ledbury.

Michelin’s 2015 Bib Gourmand list for New York is out. Every restaurant on the list offers two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less.
For many observers the most intriguing of the Michelin lists, the “Bib” often includes up and coming restaurants to complement the more established ‘starry’ establishments. This year, newcomers include Laotian-inspired Khe-Yo, East Village Italian Bar Primi and many more.

The Good Food Guide announced their list of top 50 restaurants last week. The top 3 restaurants (L’Enclume, The Fat Duck and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay) all scored a perfect 10 with London restaurants featuring heavily in the top 10 list (Hibiscus, Pollen Street Social, The Square, The Ledbury).
Newcomer, Fera at Claridge’s by Simon Rogan, came in at no. 19 on the list.
