Neil Rankin's Smokehouse in Islington now open
Posted on: August 18, 2013
Since mid August, London has a new destination for meat lovers. Smokehouse on Canonbury Road in Islington specialises in smoked and grilled meats and its menu includes peppered ox cheek, pork mixed grill and rib eye steaks, but also seafood dishes such as lobster and spring onion frittata or monkfish with tomatoes and razor clams.
The kitchen at Smokehouse is headed up by Neil Rankin who has made quite a name for himself in recent years. He was the former chef a successful Soho BBQ joint Pitt Cue Co. before relaunching John Salt with an entirely new menu. At the Smokehouse, Rankin collaborates with The Pig and Butcher, an Islington gastropub that currently scores an impressive Verdict of 80%.
The team see their new venture Smokehouse as a gastropub and takes its beers seriously – there is a large blackboard full of craft beers and hand-pulled local ales. The restaurant’s wine list focuses exclusively on European family vineyards.
Smokehouse is now open on 63—69 Canonbury Road, London N1 2DG and reservations are taken on 020 7354 1144 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
