Angela Hartnett's Merchants Tavern to open soon

Angela Hartnett, the chef patronne of Michelin-starred Murano and business partner of Gordon Ramsay for more than a decade, is planning to open a restaurant on Charlotte Road in Shoreditch 0n 8 October. She partners with the co-founders of Canteen, Dominic Lake and Patrick Clayton-Malone (pictured with Angela)
The venue will be called Merchant’s Tavern and will include both an 80-cover restaurant and a bar seating 50. The menu is described as “honest, heartfelt” modern European cuisine and will include dishes such as roast partridge with baked celeriac and hazelnut pesto; loin of venison with lardo di colonnata, sautéed artichokes and chive crème fraiche or braised fillet of halibut with ham hock and chicken broth, leeks and salsify.
Merchant’s Tavern will open on 8 October in a Victorian warehouse at 35-42 Charlotte Road in the heart of Shoreditch. The restaurant’s website is now live and it’s worth registering for the newsletter as the team promise a soft opening with 50% off food.
